Autumn Foliage In Ohio — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1966, this vintage home movie captures vibrant autumn foliage in Wauseon, Ohio. The footage shows trees ablaze with red, orange, and yellow leaves against a bright blue sky, viewed through a window frame. The camera pans across a hillside forest, revealing a mix of deciduous trees in peak fall color and evergreens. A utility pole and distant structures appear in the lower frame, grounding the scene in a suburban landscape. The film exhibits natural grain and slight color fading, characteristic of Super 8 home movies from the era. This nostalgic clip evokes the quiet beauty of a mid-century American autumn.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie footage for productions needing a brief seasonal cutaway of autumn color in small-town Ohio.
Period detail: The frames show fall foliage, a window or dark frame edge, utility poles, and distant low structures, with no visible people or identifiable signage.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged home-movie viewpoint, looking outward from a fixed or nearby window position toward trees, hillside, and neighborhood edges.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include red and orange deciduous trees, evergreen stands, blue sky, clouds, a wooded hillside, utility poles, dark window framing, and distant rooftops.
Film character: The 8mm scan carries warm color shifts, soft focus, visible grain, slight exposure variation, and handheld framing typical of mid-century amateur footage.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short autumn insert, seasonal transition, rural-suburban establishing cutaway, or quiet memory beat.
Historical context: The footage places peak fall color within an ordinary residential or roadside Ohio setting rather than a named landmark or public event.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or readable brands are visible, but copyright and any location or property considerations should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1966 Ohio autumn foliage, 8mm fall leaves, Wauseon home movie landscape, and vintage Midwest seasonal cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel material, then other Wauseon or 1966 Ohio clips, then broader 1960s autumn foliage and home-movie nature scenes.
