MINNESOTA USA-1964: Three small motorboats race across a calm lake, leaving white wakes behind them. Shot on 8mm film, the footage captures a classic summer day with a grainy, nostalgic quality and a cool blue color palette. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1960s documentary or editorial requests for Midwestern lake recreation, small motorboat racing, and summer home-movie water scenes.
Period detail: The clip may show mid-1960s leisure boating, with small open motorboats and distant shoreline or dock-side filming consistent with the 1964 Minnesota metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The distant, steady viewpoint suggests an observer filming a casual boat race from shore or a fixed lakeside structure rather than a staged event.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include three small motorboats, calm blue lake water, white wakes, distant boat occupants, film gate edges, and a concrete structure in the final frame.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, cool blue color, slight exposure variation, and contact-sheet gate edges that give it clear home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, transition, or memory beat for summer recreation, lake travel, amateur racing, or 1960s outdoor leisure.
Historical context: The footage reflects recreational motorboating on a Minnesota lake, offering a small-scale view of everyday leisure without identifying a specific event or venue.
Research note: Distant people appear in the boats, so likeness risk is likely low but should be reviewed separately from copyright and any location permissions.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1964 Minnesota lake boating, 8mm home movie motorboat race, 1960s summer recreation, and vintage small boats on water.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other 1964 Minnesota lake scenes, then broader 1960s boating and summer recreation clips.
