A Pool With Red Tablecloths Poolside And A Weather... — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1968, this vintage home movie captures a sun-drenched poolside scene in Scottsdale, Arizona. The footage shows a turquoise swimming pool surrounded by lounge chairs and palm trees, with red and white checkered tablecloths on outdoor dining tables in the foreground. A weather report sign displays temperatures and conditions for major U.S. cities, including Scottsdale at 74°. The grainy, slightly blurred quality and warm color palette evoke classic 1960s nostalgia, perfect for documentaries, retro-themed projects, or editorial content exploring mid-century American leisure.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Scottsdale poolside home-movie footage suited to documentary inserts about American leisure, travel, resort stays, or warm-weather winter escapes.
Period detail: The scene shows period clues including 8mm color, mid-century pool railings, palm landscaping, lounge chairs, checkered tablecloths, and a weather board listing U.S. cities.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes the pool area from a guest or visitor vantage point, lingering on ordinary resort details rather than staged action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include turquoise pools, metal safety rails, lounge chairs, palm trees, red checkered tablecloths, low buildings, seated bathers, and a weather report sign.
Film character: The 8mm image has soft focus, visible grain, slight gate shadow, warm color, and handheld framing that preserve the physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a leisure cutaway, travel-memory insert, location transition, or visual bridge from poolside activity to a weather reference.
Historical context: The clip reflects a mid-century recreational setting where climate, outdoor dining, swimming pools, and travel hospitality are presented through a family-film viewpoint.
Research note: People appear in the pool area, so likeness review may be needed; no clear logos are visible, while copyright and any property permissions should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1968 Scottsdale pool, 8mm Arizona resort, 1960s hotel swimming pool, weather report sign, and vintage poolside dining tables.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other Scottsdale or 1968 Arizona material, then broader 1960s pool, resort, travel, or weather-sign scenes.
