Navy Hu-1 Helicopter Landing On Ship Deck — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm home movie clip from Greece in 1963 captures a Navy HU-1 helicopter, marked with the number 130004 and a red and black livery, landing on a ship's flight deck. Crew members in period-appropriate uniforms guide the aircraft as its rotors spin, with the ship's deck and railings visible in the foreground. The footage exhibits the characteristic grain and color saturation of 8mm film from the early 1960s, offering authentic archival material for military history, documentary, or nostalgic content.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1960s military aviation archive requests needing 8mm home-movie footage of a Navy helicopter landing on a ship deck in Greece.
Period detail: The red and dark Navy helicopter markings, open ship deck, crew hand signals and 8mm color stock point to early 1960s naval aviation activity.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an observer's home-movie viewpoint, catching deck crew guiding the aircraft rather than a staged military demonstration.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a red and dark helicopter, Navy markings, spinning rotors, deck crew, hand signals, ship railings, landing gear and sea horizon.
Film character: The footage carries 8mm grain, soft focus, slight exposure shifts and saturated color that help preserve the feel of an original 1960s home-movie scan.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, military transport cutaway, shipboard transition or period aviation memory beat.
Historical context: The frames show shipboard helicopter handling and deck guidance, offering visual context for naval aviation routines without confirming a specific mission.
Research note: People, military markings and aircraft identifiers are visible, so copyright, likeness, military insignia and contextual use should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1963 Greece Navy helicopter, HU-1 ship deck landing, 8mm naval aviation footage and 1960s military home movie.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other Greece 1963 footage, then broader 1960s Navy aviation or shipboard deck-operation material.
