Speedboat Racing in Ocean with American Flag — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1963, this vintage home movie captures a classic wooden speedboat racing across deep blue waters, leaving a white wake behind. A man in a white suit stands at the stern, holding an American flag, while another passenger sits inside the cabin. The boat speeds past a rocky shoreline with distant hills, then turns sharply, revealing a large white building on the coast. The footage exhibits the characteristic grain and color saturation of Super 8 film, evoking a nostalgic 1960s Mediterranean vacation.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Greek coastal home-movie footage for productions needing a brief Mediterranean speedboat, boating holiday, or vintage sea-travel insert.
Period detail: The wooden cabin speedboat, white clothing, saturated color, and 8mm texture support the 1963 home-movie date supplied in the metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The camera follows a leisure boat from shore or another boat, preserving an informal tourist view of motion, wake, passengers, and coastline.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a wooden speedboat, American flag, standing man, seated passenger, white wake, blue sea, rocky shoreline, hills, and a large coastal building.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm grain, blue-purple color shift, slight blur, and contact-print framing that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a quick travel insert, coastal transition, boating cutaway, or memory beat within a 1960s Mediterranean sequence.
Historical context: The scene shows leisure boating along a Greek coast, with visitor-shot attention on speed, water, shoreline, and seaside architecture rather than a formal event.
Research note: People are visible and may require likeness review; no clear logos are seen, while copyright, location, and property considerations should be checked separately.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1963 Greece 8mm speedboat, vintage Mediterranean boating, wooden motorboat with American flag, and home movie coastal travel.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other 1963 Greece coastal scenes, then broader vintage boating or Mediterranean travel material.
