Snake Charmer Performing With Cobra In Woven Basket — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm film clip from India in 1970 captures a cobra handler performing with a cobra. The snake, with its distinctive hood expanded, coils in a woven basket while the handler, wearing a yellow shirt and a silver watch, manipulates it. The footage shows the cobra reacting to the unseen flute, its body raised in a defensive posture. The scene unfolds on a paved surface, with the handler's bare feet visible, showcasing a traditional street performance. The warm, slightly faded colors and film grain are characteristic of 8mm home movie footage from the era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s India documentary edits needing brief 8mm home-movie footage of a street cobra-handling performance.
Period detail: The yellow shirt, wristwatch, sandals, woven basket, and faded 8mm color may show traveler-shot street performance details from India around 1970.
Home-movie behavior: The framing feels like a visitor filming close to the performer, catching hands, feet, basket, and snake movement rather than a staged production setup.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a hooded cobra, woven basket, handler hands, yellow sleeve, bare feet in sandals, paved ground, and boats on the water.
Film character: The clip has handheld 8mm texture with grain, soft focus, warm faded color, uneven exposure, and contact-print edge darkness.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, cultural travel cutaway, or memory beat between broader India travel scenes.
Historical context: The footage documents a visible street performance encounter without proving the performer's identity, exact city, or event context.
Research note: People are partly visible through hands and feet, so copyright, likeness, animal-use context, and any location permissions should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1970 India 8mm cobra charmer, vintage snake charmer footage, home movie street performance, and cobra in basket.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel scenes, then other India 1970 travel footage, and then broader archival clips of street performance or traditional animal handling.
