Three Women Lounging By The Lake In Summer — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1964, this vintage home movie captures three women relaxing on a lakeside shore at Greenwood Lake, New York. Dressed in summer attire—striped swimsuits, a red gingham top, and white sunglasses—they lounge on wooden benches, sipping from cans of soda. The warm, slightly faded colors and visible film grain evoke a nostalgic 1960s Americana vibe. In the background, a modest lakeside cottage sits on a grassy slope, while a small boat glides across the water in the final frame. This authentic slice of mid-century leisure is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic storytelling.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie footage suited to editorial uses needing lakeside summer leisure, women relaxing outdoors, or mid-century vacation atmosphere.
Period detail: The swimsuits, white sunglasses, soda cans, wooden benches, and faded color stock support a mid-1960s leisure setting at Greenwood Lake, New York.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged family or vacation perspective, with women lounging and looking off-camera while the handheld camera briefly catches motion and water.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include three women in summer clothing, white sunglasses, soda cans, wooden seating, a hillside cottage, lakeside water, distant hills, and a small boat.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, mild color fading, gate edges, and handheld movement that give the footage its physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, memory beat, vacation cutaway, or transitional shot between lakeside recreation and broader 1960s leisure scenes.
Historical context: The footage shows casual outdoor lake recreation and women’s summer fashion in a domestic vacation setting without making broader claims about the community or event.
Research note: People and possible soda branding are visible, so likeness and trademark review may be needed even where copyright status is separately assessed.
Research search match: Useful search phrases include 1960s 8mm lake vacation, Greenwood Lake New York home movie, women in swimsuits by water, vintage summer leisure, and small boat on lake.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Greenwood Lake or 1964 material, and then with broader themes of summer vacations, boating, and mid-century leisure.
