Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1940s New York home-movie footage for edits needing mid-century recreation, social hall exteriors, or a waterside couple scene.
Period detail: The clip shows a white clapboard social hall, older rounded cars, modest swimsuits, towels, and a pond setting consistent with the supplied 1948 date.
Home-movie behavior: The value is candid home-movie observation, moving from a community building across the water to an affectionate adult couple posing by the pond.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include the Lake Kari Free Social Hall, pond water, chain-link fencing, parked cars, trees, white towels, and an embracing couple.
Film character: The 8mm scan carries soft focus, natural color, visible grain, slight exposure variation, and handheld framing typical of amateur mid-century film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, transition, or memory beat for summer leisure, community recreation, or postwar family-film sequences.
Historical context: The footage offers visual context for a small New York waterside recreation site and adult leisure clothing in the late 1940s.
Research note: Faces are visible and the social hall is identifiable, so users should review likeness, location, and property considerations separately from copyright.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1948 New York 8mm home movie, Lake Kari Free Social Hall, vintage pond swimming, and 1940s couple bathing suits.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with 1948 New York recreation footage, then with broader 1940s summer leisure material.
