Statue of Bald Man in Coat and Hat — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1963, this vintage home movie captures a silhouetted statue of a bald man in a long coat and hat, holding a cane. The dark metal figure stands against a bright sky, surrounded by lush green trees in a park-like setting. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain, slight color shifts, and natural film wear, evoking a nostalgic mid-century European atmosphere. The camera remains steady, focusing on the monument's imposing form.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful 1960s Russia 8mm material for documentary or museum edits needing a brief monument, park, or travel-observation cutaway.
Period detail: The frames may show a mid-century visitor view of an outdoor statue, with the 1963 date and Russia location supported by clip metadata rather than visible signage.
Home-movie behavior: The clip reflects a visitor-shot perspective, holding on the silhouetted figure from below as surrounding trees frame the monument.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a dark standing statue, long coat, brimmed hat, cane-like support, bright sky, leafy trees, and film gate edges.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, strong backlighting, blue color shift, visible grain, frame borders, and light vertical film wear.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, travel-memory beat, or transition into a sequence about monuments, public parks, or Soviet-era travel footage.
Historical context: The footage offers a visual record of a public outdoor monument as encountered by a home-movie camera, without visible text confirming the subject.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or private property are visible, but statue identity, sculptural copyright status, and location details may need separate review.
Research search match: Search matches include 1963 Russia 8mm statue, Soviet-era park monument home movie, silhouetted metal figure with cane, and vintage travel cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then with 1963 Russia travel footage, and then with monument, park, or public sculpture scenes.
