Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1980s Moscow home-movie lake swimming footage for documentary, museum, education, or memory-sequence use where a brief Soviet-era summer recreation insert is needed.
Period detail: The frames show grainy 8mm black-and-white lake swimming with no visible landmarks, clothing detail, or signage beyond the supplied Moscow, Russia, 1983 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged family-film value, watching a swimmer move through open water from a simple handheld or projected home-movie viewpoint.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a swimmer's head and shoulders, open lake water, small ripples, dark 8mm frame borders, soft focus, and a contact-sheet projection look.
Film character: The footage carries visible 8mm grain, soft exposure, dark gate edges, slight blur, and uneven frame density that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short cutaway, summer-memory insert, transition between family scenes, or visual beat for childhood recreation.
Historical context: The scene documents informal outdoor swimming as private home-movie observation rather than a public event, with no identifiable Moscow landmark visible.
Research note: People and faces are visible and at least one swimmer appears young, so likeness and minor review may be needed separately from footage copyright assessment.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1983 Moscow 8mm home movie swimming, Soviet-era lake recreation, girl swimming in lake, and vintage family summer footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other Moscow 1983 home movies, then broader 1980s lake swimming or childhood summer recreation footage.
