Boy Leaping into Water — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1967, this vintage home movie captures a young boy in swim trunks standing at the edge of a calm body of water. He takes a hesitant step forward, then leaps into the water with a splash, his arms outstretched. The grainy, slightly faded footage shows natural film wear with vertical scratches and soft color tones, evoking a nostalgic, personal memory of a summer day. The scene unfolds in a quiet, natural setting, likely a lake or river, with the boy’s joyful action frozen in time.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie footage suited to documentary or museum edits needing a brief childhood swimming or summer recreation moment.
Period detail: The soft color, 8mm frame edges, swim trunks and simple outdoor water setting may show a mid-1960s leisure scene rather than a formally staged event.
Home-movie behavior: A lone boy wades, jumps and swims in calm water, giving the clip an unstaged family-film view of play and hesitation before entering the water.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a boy in swim trunks, calm rippling water, a splash, open water surface, soft focus and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has faded color, visible grain, vertical scratches, gate edges and mild exposure variation that identify it as scanned physical 8mm film.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short memory beat, childhood recreation insert, summer transition or cutaway within a broader home-movie sequence.
Historical context: The clip documents informal outdoor swimming as seen through a private home-movie camera, with no visible landmarks or public event context in these frames.
Research note: A person is visible and appears to be a child, so likeness and minor-review questions remain separate from any copyright review of the film source.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1960s 8mm boy swimming, vintage home movie child jumping into water, and Saint Petersburg Russia 1967 summer footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Saint Petersburg 1967 material, then with broader 1960s family swimming or summer recreation scenes.
