Woman Sitting on Desert Rocks in Sun — Clip Details

A woman in a light-colored dress sits on large desert rocks in Utah, 1939, soaking up the sun in this vintage 8mm home movie. Shot on 8mm film, the footage captures her relaxed posture against a backdrop of arid hills and sparse vegetation under a clear blue sky. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This 1939 Utah 8mm home-movie clip can support archival requests for late-1930s American travel, desert recreation, and quiet outdoor lifestyle cutaways.
Period detail: The light dress, Kodachrome-like color, and 8mm home-movie framing may show late-1930s amateur travel filming in a dry Utah landscape.
Home-movie behavior: The woman sits casually on sunlit rocks while the camera holds from a family or travel companion's viewpoint, giving the scene an unstaged home-movie quality.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a seated woman, pale desert rocks, arid hills, sparse shrubs, blue sky, soft focus, and black frame edges from the film scan.
Film character: The clip has faded color, visible grain, mild softness, exposure variation, and slight handheld movement typical of scanned 8mm home-movie film.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a brief cutaway, memory beat, travel insert, or transition into a sequence about Utah landscapes, leisure, or family road trips.
Historical context: The footage documents a private outdoor stop in a sparsely vegetated Utah setting, with emphasis on posture, sunlight, and landscape rather than a public event.
Research note: A visible adult face may require likeness review depending on use, while copyright and any location permissions should be assessed separately from the absence of logos or brands.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1939 Utah 8mm home movie, woman sitting on desert rocks, vintage American travel footage, and 1930s outdoor leisure scene.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Utah 1939 travel footage, and then with broader 1930s desert landscape or home-movie leisure material.
