New York USA-1939: Black And White Footage Of Three Women Working In An Office

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Supports 1930s New York office-life requests for documentary, education, museum, or period commercial edits needing women at work in a private interior.

Period detail

Visible clues include typewriter-era desk work, paper stacks, modest dresses, a wall calendar, framed office items, and a wall-mounted device that may show late-1930s workplace technology.

Home-movie behavior

The brief handheld view preserves unposed workplace activity as women handle papers, sit at desks, and move through routine office tasks.

What appears in frame

Frames show women at a cluttered desk, a typewriter or office machine, stacks of papers, a wall calendar, framed wall items, a lamp, and a wall-mounted device.

Film character

Black-and-white 8mm texture has visible grain, soft focus, high contrast, slight handheld framing, and contact-print density shifts typical of scanned home-movie film.

Edit role

Useful as a short insert, workplace cutaway, memory beat, or transition for sequences about clerical labor, women workers, or everyday office routines.

Historical context

The footage offers visual context for women performing clerical or administrative work in a private New York office setting before mid-century office equipment modernized.

Research note

People and a private interior are visible, so copyright, likeness, and property considerations should be reviewed separately before use.
