Two Views Of Mountain Rock Formations On A Sunny — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1967, this vintage home movie captures two views of rugged mountain rock formations in Yellowstone Wyoming. The footage opens with a wide shot of a sunlit, layered cliff face under a deep blue sky, then pans to reveal a closer, shadowed perspective of the rocky terrain. The natural textures of the weathered stone and sparse vegetation are highlighted by bright sunlight, with the characteristic grain and color saturation of Super 8 film. This archival footage offers a nostalgic glimpse of the American West.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s archival productions needing brief Yellowstone or American West mountain geology cutaways from visitor-shot 8mm home-movie footage.
Period detail: The color, grain, brief handheld framing and 8mm source support a late-1960s home-movie context, with no visible people, vehicles or signage to add more precise era clues.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves a visitor's scenic look at rugged rock formations, shifting from a wider cliff view to closer shadowed stone textures rather than staging an event.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include layered tan cliffs, dark shadowed rock faces, sparse trees or scrub, patches of bright sky, strong sunlight and black film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has saturated color, visible grain, slight softness, high-contrast exposure and handheld framing that read as authentic 8mm archival texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short establishing insert, nature cutaway, travel-memory beat or transition within a Yellowstone, geology or American West sequence.
Historical context: The views show mid-century recreational filming of western landscape scenery, focused on dramatic rock faces and natural light rather than built landmarks or human activity.
Research note: No people, logos or private interiors are visible, but users should still review copyright, location use and any project-specific property or public-land requirements.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1967 8mm Yellowstone rock formations, vintage Wyoming mountain scenery, home movie cliffs and American West landscape footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1967 Yellowstone footage, then broader vintage American West rocks, cliffs and mountain landscape material.
