Family Embraces at Formal Evening Gathering — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1956, this vintage home movie captures a family moment at a formal gathering in New York City. A man in a white dress shirt and a woman in a yellow dress stand with a teenage boy in a dark suit and patterned tie. The trio appears to be engaged in conversation, with the man and boy embracing the woman in a warm, affectionate gesture. The grainy, color-bleached quality of the Super 8 footage evokes a nostalgic, intimate atmosphere typical of mid-century family events.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful 1950s New York City home-movie footage for productions needing an intimate family moment at a dressy indoor gathering.
Period detail: The formal clothing, patterned tie, curled hairstyle, and soft color 8mm look support a mid-1950s social-event setting.

What appears in frame: Visible elements include a man in a white shirt, a woman in a yellow dress, a young man in a dark suit, patterned tie, dim interior walls, and close handheld framing.
Film character: The footage has dense 8mm grain, faded color, low indoor exposure, and slight handheld softness that read as original home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, memory beat, or transition showing family affection during a mid-century formal occasion.
Historical context: The scene offers visual social context for dressy family gatherings in mid-century New York City without identifying the event or participants.
Research note: People and a private interior are visible, so likeness and property considerations may require review separate from copyright status.
