Three People In A Rowboat Sail Across A Lake — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1956, this vintage home movie captures three people in a small rowboat gliding across a calm lake. A man in a plaid shirt and hat rows while two women, one in a red sweater and another in a patterned top, sit beside him. The boat moves steadily toward the shore, with a dense forest lining the far bank under a bright sky. The footage shows natural film grain, slight color fading, and authentic 1950s home movie quality. This nostalgic clip evokes mid-century American leisure and family outings, perfect for documentaries, editorial content, or retro-themed projects.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports requests for 1950s Florida home-movie footage of casual boating, lakeside leisure, and small-group family recreation for documentary or editorial use.
Period detail: The 8mm color look, clothing, small open rowboat, and metadata-supported 1956 Miami setting place the scene within mid-century American outdoor leisure.
Home-movie behavior: Three adults sit close together in a small boat as one person rows, giving the scene an unstaged family-outing quality from a shoreline observer's perspective.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a small white rowboat, three seated adults, an oar in the water, calm lake surface, wooded far shore, bright sky, and film-frame borders.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, mild color fading, gate weave, and exposure variation give the footage the texture of scanned 8mm home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, memory beat, transition, or establishing insert for family recreation, lakeside travel, or mid-century leisure sequences.
Historical context: The clip reflects private recreational boating and informal outdoor social life, without showing identifiable landmarks or public events in the visible frames.
Research note: People are visible and likeness review may be needed; no logos, brands, private property, or children are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from likeness review.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1950s 8mm rowboat on lake, Miami home movie boating, Florida family leisure footage, and vintage small boat outing.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with 1956 Miami or Florida lake footage, then with broader themes of family outings, boating, and waterside leisure.
