Children Swim While Woman Appears In Close-Up — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1961, this vintage home movie captures a family enjoying a summer day at a waterfront in Camden, New Jersey. The grainy, color-bleached footage shows children swimming in the water, their heads bobbing above the surface, while a woman’s face appears in close-up, her expression serene. The film exhibits classic Super 8 characteristics—soft focus, film grain, and a slightly faded color palette—evoking a nostalgic, personal memory of a 1960s family holiday.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s home-movie requests needing Camden waterfront recreation, swimmers in open water, or a brief intimate family close-up for documentary or editorial use.
Period detail: The footage may show early-1960s leisure clothing and waterfront activity, with the 1961 Camden setting supported by supplied metadata rather than visible landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged home-movie value in swimmers moving through the water and a close handheld view of a woman smiling near the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include open water, swimmers' heads, dark film borders, a woman in close-up, soft focus, faded color, and handheld framing.
Film character: The 8mm image carries grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, faded color, and visible frame edges that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short memory beat, summer recreation insert, waterfront cutaway, or transition from public outdoor activity to an intimate family moment.
Historical context: The scene documents casual leisure around water in a family-shot context, without visible landmarks or details that independently identify the exact site.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; copyright, privacy, and any location permissions should be checked separately.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1961 Camden New Jersey home movie, 8mm family swimming footage, vintage waterfront leisure, and 1960s woman close-up.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1961 Camden material, then broader 1960s family swimming or waterfront leisure footage.
