Young Woman and Man Swimming in Lake — Clip Details

A young woman with blonde hair smiles joyfully while swimming in a lake, her body partially submerged in the cool blue water. Her relaxed, playful movements suggest a carefree summer evening. In the final frame, a man joins her, both appearing to enjoy the water together. Shot on 8mm film in 1961, this vintage home movie captures a candid moment of leisure and happiness, with soft focus and natural lighting characteristic of Super 8 footage. The grainy texture and slightly faded colors evoke a nostalgic, authentic 1960s atmosphere.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s editorial or documentary sequences needing candid home-movie footage of summer swimming and informal leisure in Camden, New Jersey.
Period detail: The 8mm color look, swimwear, and metadata-dated 1961 setting support a mid-century home-movie context, though no landmark or dated signage is visible.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmers appear relaxed and aware of the camera, smiling and moving casually through the water in an unstaged family or social leisure moment.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue lake water, a blonde woman swimming, a second adult swimmer in the final frame, soft reflections, dark frame borders, and 8mm contact-sheet divisions.
Film character: The clip has soft focus, visible grain, slight color fading, handheld framing, and exposure shifts typical of scanned 8mm home-movie footage.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short summer leisure insert, memory beat, transition, or cutaway for mid-century recreation and family-life sequences.
Historical context: The footage shows informal outdoor swimming and social recreation, offering a small-scale view of everyday leisure rather than a documented public event.
Research note: Faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; copyright, privacy, and any location permissions should be assessed separately from the footage metadata.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1961 8mm swimming footage, Camden New Jersey lake home movie, 1960s summer recreation, and vintage people swimming in water.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other Camden 1961 material, then broader 1960s outdoor swimming or summer leisure footage.
