A Small Yacht Glides Along A River Followed By A Splash — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1974, this vintage home movie captures a small white passenger boat gliding along a calm river under a bright blue sky. The boat, with several passengers visible on deck, moves steadily through the water, creating a gentle wake. The scene is framed by wooden pilings in the foreground and a distant shoreline with trees and structures. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 color grading with saturated blues and a soft, nostalgic quality, evoking mid-70s Americana. This archival clip is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic projects exploring 1970s leisure and transportation.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s 8mm home-movie footage for productions needing a brief river boating, leisure travel, or waterside transportation cutaway.
Period detail: The small passenger boat, saturated blue sky, soft 8mm color, and casual deck passengers may show mid-1970s recreational river activity in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged shore-side viewpoint as the camera follows a passenger boat moving past wooden pilings with people gathered on deck.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white passenger boat, deck passengers, calm blue water, wooden pilings, grassy riverbank, distant shoreline, trees, and low structures.
Film character: The scan carries 8mm texture with saturated blues, soft focus, light gate edges, mild frame weave, and visible contact-sheet grain.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, transition, or memory beat for 1970s boating, small-town waterways, or leisure travel sequences.
Historical context: The scene visually places recreational passenger boating within an everyday Midwestern home-movie record rather than a formal tourism or news view.
Research note: People and a possible boat marking are visible but not clearly identifiable, so likeness, logo, and location-use review should remain separate from copyright review.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1974 8mm river boat footage, Fort Wayne Indiana home movie, 1970s passenger boat, and vintage boating on a river.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then Fort Wayne or 1974 material, then broader 1970s waterways, boating, and leisure footage.
