Three People Aboard A Motorboat During Summer Evening — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1971, this vintage home movie captures three people aboard a motorboat on a Mississippi lake during summer. The grainy, color-bleached footage shows passengers in casual swimwear enjoying a leisurely ride, with the shoreline visible in the background. The sequence transitions from daylight to dusk, with the final frames showing the boat in near darkness. The handheld camera movement and film grain give it an authentic, nostalgic feel, perfect for documentaries, editorial content, or retro-themed projects.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s Mississippi home-movie requests needing brief recreational boating footage for documentary, editorial, museum, or educational sequences.
Period detail: The clip may show early 1970s leisure style through swimwear, a small open motorboat, soft color reversal film, and casual lakeside recreation.
Home-movie behavior: Unstaged passengers sit low in the boat, talk, recline, and look toward the water while the camera observes from another moving position.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include three adults, a white motorboat, lake water, shoreline trees, swimwear, a windshield, evening light, and heavy film grain.
Film character: The 8mm footage has soft focus, handheld drift, color fading, exposure changes from daylight to dusk, and visible grain that preserve the home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short summer recreation insert, lake cutaway, transition into dusk, or memory beat within a family travel sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects informal warm-weather leisure on a Mississippi lake, with people in swimwear aboard a small recreational boat rather than a staged event.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright status is separate from appearance clearance.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1971 Mississippi lake boating, 1970s home movie motorboat, Super 8 summer recreation, and vintage family vacation on water.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then Mississippi 1971 outdoor scenes, then other 1970s lake, boating, vacation, or dusk recreation clips.
