For Rent Sign For Cabin With Stove — Clip Details

A close-up of a vintage 8mm home movie clip from Silver Lake, California, 1966, showing a hand-written 'For Rent' sign for a cabin with a stove for $10.00 a month. The sign notes the roof needs fixing and the well is run dry, but the cabin is otherwise in good shape, with contact information for C.O. Scroggin. The footage captures the worn texture of the paper and the handwritten text in a nostalgic, archival style.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s documentary or education edits needing a close insert of handwritten rural housing, rent, or notice-board material from archival 8mm footage.
Period detail: The handwritten rental notices, low monthly price, paper texture, and 8mm color scan support a mid-1960s home-movie context tied to Silver Lake, California metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The camera studies posted notices at close range, preserving casual roadside or community-board detail rather than a staged housing scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include pinned paper signs, handwritten rental text, wood backing, nail heads, uneven paper edges, shadowed borders, and film-frame divisions.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm focus, visible grain, warm exposure, slight gate edges, and contact-sheet duplication that give the sign a physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, cutaway, or memory beat for low-cost housing, local notices, rural cabins, or handwritten public information.
Historical context: The signs suggest modest rental or sale notices and practical concerns such as repairs, dry water access, goods, and household chattel without showing people.
Research note: No people, logos, or brands are visible, but handwritten names and possible property references should be reviewed separately from copyright status.
Research search match: Researchers may search for 1960s 8mm footage of handwritten for rent signs, cabin rental notices, vintage paper notices, or Silver Lake California home movies.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other Silver Lake 1966 footage, then related clips of handwritten signs, housing notices, posted paper, or rural property details.
