Group Of Young White Men Sitting On Side Of Boat — Clip Details

A group of young white men sit together on the side of a boat, gazing out over calm waters toward a coastal town in the USA Virgin Islands. Shot on 8mm film in 1964, the footage captures a relaxed, candid moment with men in casual summer attire—polo shirts, patterned shirts, and sunglasses—under a partly cloudy sky. The background reveals a waterfront town with low-rise buildings, a prominent church steeple, and distant mountains. The handheld camera captures natural movement and subtle shifts in posture, conveying a sense of leisure and travel. The film’s characteristic grain, color fading, and slight vignetting enhance its authentic vintage quality, making it ideal for historical, nostalgic, or documentary content.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm travel footage for requests needing young men on a boat with a Caribbean coastal town backdrop.
Period detail: Casual short-sleeve shirts, sunglasses, low-rise waterfront buildings, and the 8mm color home-movie look support a mid-1960s leisure-travel setting.
Home-movie behavior: The men sit informally along the boat edge, looking outward and shifting subtly as a companion or traveler films from nearby.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include seated men, boat rail or rigging, calm water, a waterfront town, low hills or mountains, clouds, and a distant church steeple.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm grain, muted color, edge vignetting, minor exposure variation, and handheld framing that preserve its home-movie texture.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a travel insert, harbor cutaway, group-leisure beat, or transitional memory shot within a 1960s vacation sequence.
Historical context: The footage visually places a small group of white male travelers or visitors against a coastal United States setting identified in metadata as the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Research note: Recognizable faces are visible, and possible signage or logos appear in the background, so likeness, trademark, and location identification should be reviewed separately from copyright status.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1960s 8mm boat passengers, U.S. Virgin Islands harbor home movie, young men on boat, and Caribbean coastal town travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1964 U.S. Virgin Islands harbor views, then broader 1960s boat travel or coastal vacation scenes.
