Recreational Park With A Large Lake For Boating — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1964, this vintage home movie captures a serene lakeside view from a moving perspective, likely from a boat. The footage shows a calm lake with a distant tree-lined shore under a partly cloudy sky. The image has a distinct blue color cast and visible film grain, characteristic of Super 8 home movies from the era. Small buoys or boats appear in the water, and the frame is bordered by the film's black sprocket holes, enhancing its authentic archival feel. This nostalgic clip evokes a peaceful summer day at a recreational lake.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm lakeside park footage for productions needing a quiet recreational waterway cutaway, travel insert, or home-movie memory beat.
Period detail: The clip may show a mid-1960s park or boating area, with period clues limited to the 8mm color stock, contact-frame borders, and unstaged shoreline view.
Home-movie behavior: The camera holds a visitor-shot view across open water from a moving or drifting position, emphasizing casual observation rather than staged action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include calm lake water, a distant tree-lined shore, small white buoys or boats, partly cloudy sky, dark film-frame borders, and blue-tinted 8mm grain.
Film character: The footage has visible 8mm grain, soft focus, blue color shift, gate edges, and slight handheld or transport instability that reads as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: Editors could use this as a quiet establishing insert, scene transition, reflective cutaway, or shoreline memory beat within a 1960s travel or recreation sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects leisure-oriented lake viewing or boating in a New York park setting, while the frames do not identify a specific landmark or named body of water.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or clear private property are visible, but copyright, location identification, and any property implications should still be reviewed.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1964 8mm lake footage, Niagara Falls New York park boating, vintage recreational lake, tree-lined shoreline, and home movie water view.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with 1964 Niagara Falls area material, then with broader 1960s lake, park, boating, or summer travel footage.
