Men Relaxing On Boat With Cigarette And Ball — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1964, this vintage home movie captures a group of men aboard a wooden boat, likely in Martinique. Dressed in casual summer attire—white shirts and blue trousers—they relax on the deck, one smoking a cigarette while another handles a blue and white patterned ball. The sea and a distant coastal town are visible in the background, evoking a sense of leisure and travel. The footage features natural film grain and warm color tones characteristic of Super 8 home movies from the era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s travel, leisure, and maritime-life edits needing brief home-movie footage of adults relaxing on a small boat at sea.
Period detail: Clothing, handheld 8mm color, cigarette use, and the small wooden boat may show mid-1960s vacation or excursion culture.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the casual, unstaged deck behavior as seated adults smoke, handle a small ball, and rest during a boat outing.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include seated adults, white shirts, blue trousers, a cigarette, a blue patterned ball, wooden deck details, open water, and a distant coast.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm color, visible grain, slight exposure variation, handheld framing, and contact-print texture that reads as original home-movie material.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short cutaway, travel insert, maritime transition, or quiet memory beat within a 1960s vacation sequence.
Historical context: The scene suggests informal adult leisure on a boat, with sea and coastal settlement visible, but the exact location and identities are not established by the frames.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from any privacy or location assessment.
Research search match: Searches may include 1960s 8mm boat outing, vintage home movie men on boat, Caribbean-looking sea travel, cigarette on deck, and coastal excursion footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with confirmed same-year or same-location travel material, then with broader boat, sea, and vacation home movies.
