Sponsored Wgn Radio Contest At County Fair — Clip Details

A vibrant 8mm home movie from 1964 captures a county fair pageant in Harvard, Illinois. Two young women in elegant white and light blue gowns wear sashes, one clearly marked '1963 Miss'. A man in a suit and glasses speaks into a microphone, likely announcing the winner, while another man in a light suit and cowboy hat stands nearby. The scene is set against a backdrop with a 'WGN Radio' sign, with audience members and photographers visible, all under the warm, slightly grainy glow of vintage film.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s editorial sequences needing county fair pageant, local radio sponsorship, or small-town public contest footage from Harvard, Illinois.
Period detail: The gowns, gloves, sashes, microphones, hats, and WGN Radio signage support a mid-1960s county fair or pageant setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot feel, observing contestants, announcers, photographers, and audience members as public ceremony continues without staged posing for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible details include sash-wearing contestants, formal gowns, microphones, WGN Radio signs, folding chairs, suited announcers, photographers, and fair spectators.
Film character: The 8mm image has soft grain, warm color, slight exposure variation, and handheld framing that give the ceremony tactile home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief insert, transition, or memory beat for local fairs, pageants, radio promotions, or 1960s community events.
Historical context: The footage shows a public contest presentation where local media branding, formal pageant attire, and audience attention frame small-town civic entertainment.
Research note: People, faces, and WGN Radio branding are visible, so likeness, trademark, music, and event-context review may be needed separately from film copyright.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1960s Illinois county fair pageant, WGN Radio sponsored contest, Harvard Illinois fair footage, and 8mm home movie pageant ceremony.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel fair material, then Harvard or Illinois 1964 footage, then broader 1960s county fair, pageant, radio promotion, and public ceremony scenes.
