Person Standing Silhouetted by Water — Clip Details

A young person stands near a body of water in this 8mm home movie from Camden, New Jersey, 1964. Shot through a dark frame, likely a window, the figure is silhouetted against the bright blue water and pale sky. The person wears a dark, possibly purple, shirt and moves slightly, their form blurred by motion and the film's grain. The footage captures a candid, nostalgic moment with natural light and the characteristic color shifts of vintage Super 8 film.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Suits editorial documentary or personal-history productions needing authentic 1960s American waterfront home-movie footage with candid portraiture and silhouette compositions.
Period detail: The 8mm film stock, color palette, and visible clothing including what appears to be a teal scarf and dark cardigan in the opening frame are consistent with early-to-mid 1960s American casual dress.
Home-movie behavior: The clip captures the informal intimacy of a family outing, beginning with a smiling woman turning directly to camera before shifting to a figure standing near open water, unposed and unhurried.
What appears in frame: Smiling adult woman in close-up, dark-clothed figure as near-total silhouette, person standing at water's edge with hand near face, bright blue water horizon, pale overcast sky, and fine 8mm grain throughout.
Film character: Vivid cyan-blue color saturation characteristic of early 1960s 8mm stock, with soft focus halation on bright water, gentle motion blur in the portrait frame, and fine grain visible throughout.
Edit role: The opening close-up portrait serves as a human-interest insert or memory beat, while the silhouette and waterside frames work as atmospheric cutaways or transitions within a waterfront sequence.
Historical context: The Camden, New Jersey waterfront location may place this near the Delaware River shoreline; the casual outing reflects mid-century American leisure documentation typical of the early 1960s.
Research note: At least one clearly identifiable face is visible in frame 0; likeness rights for all recognizable subjects require independent clearance before commercial use, and copyright provenance is unverified.
Research search match: 1960s home movie waterfront silhouette candid portrait 8mm New Jersey family outing Delaware River.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from the same Camden New Jersey reel, then with 1960s Delaware Valley or Mid-Atlantic waterfront footage, then with 8mm silhouette or candid-portrait home-movie clips.
