Man Lines Up A Shot Through A Gun Then With A Close — Clip Details

A man in a white t-shirt and dark pants kneels on a grassy lawn, aiming a rifle at a distant target in this 1964 8mm home movie from Camden, New Jersey. The footage captures the focused moment of shooting, with a dartboard visible in the background. The scene is framed by dark edges, suggesting a view through a window or doorway, and the image exhibits the characteristic grain and color saturation of vintage Super 8 film. The final frame shows a close-up of a bright, overexposed object, possibly a flash or light reflection, amidst debris.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: A 5-second 1964 8mm home movie from Camden, NJ showing a man aiming a firearm; suitable for documentary sequences on 1960s American domestic life or recreational shooting culture.
Period detail: White t-shirt, dark trousers, and warm saturated 8mm color palette are consistent with the 1964 title date; gravel and grassy hillside suggest a private backyard or rural property.
Home-movie behavior: Heavy vignetting along the frame edges and an informal gravel-yard setting suggest filming through a doorway or window by a family member documenting everyday recreational activity.
What appears in frame: Man in white t-shirt kneeling on gravel, handgun raised in two-handed aim, green grassy hillside, dark vignette border, visible film grain, near-black final frames suggesting a camera pan.
Film character: Pronounced side vignetting, warm color saturation, and visible grain in the active frames give way to near-total underexposure in the final seconds, typical of amateur 8mm stock from the early 1960s.
Edit role: The two near-identical aiming frames work as a brief insert or cutaway in 1960s domestic-life sequences; the dark closing frames may serve as a natural reel-end transition or punctuation beat.
Historical context: Recreational target shooting on private property was a common leisure pastime in 1960s suburban America, and informal 8mm documentation of such activities was typical of the era.
Research note: An adult male with a partially visible face appears holding a firearm; model release status is unknown — editorial use only, and producers should seek independent legal clearance before licensing.
Research search match: Researchers may search for 1960s backyard shooting, recreational firearms home movie, 8mm 1964 New Jersey, or mid-century American suburban leisure footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from the same Camden NJ reel or year; then with 1960s American outdoor leisure footage; then with period clips showing sport or recreational shooting.
