Camden New Jersey USA-1964: Woman Practicing Archery With Man In Grass Field

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary or educational requests for 1960s American leisure footage; works as an authentic period insert for mid-century outdoor recreation or suburban lifestyle sequences.

Period detail

The woman's sleeveless shell top, high-waisted teal shorts, and cat-eye sunglasses, paired with the man's plain white t-shirt and belted khakis, are consistent with early-to-mid 1960s American casual dress.

Home-movie behavior

The subjects shift between candid activity — walking the range, bending to retrieve — and turning toward the camera to pose with the bow, a hallmark of amateur home-movie filmmaking.

What appears in frame

Two adults — a woman in a yellow top and teal shorts, a man in a white t-shirt and khakis — a large wooden recurve bow, a manicured grass range, a hillside archery target, and a dense evergreen tree line under a blue sky.

Film character

Saturated 8mm color stock renders the grass as vivid green and sky as deep blue; visible grain and slight edge vignetting give the footage its characteristic mid-century home-movie texture.

Edit role

Works as a period cutaway or insert in documentaries covering 1960s leisure culture; the final posing moment where subjects face camera can anchor a personal memory beat or chapter opener.

Historical context

Informal park and backyard archery was a widely practiced amateur pastime in mid-century America, often pursued as casual family recreation outside formal club settings.

Research note

Identifiable adult faces are visible in at least one frame; standard likeness review is advisable for commercial use as no talent releases are documented; copyright status of the source film should be independently verified.
