Camden New Jersey USA-1964: Young Man Taking A Dive Into The Water Then Smiling

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary productions needing authentic mid-1960s American summer recreation footage: pool diving, youth leisure, and unguarded home-movie joy in a five-second 8mm insert.

Period detail

8mm film grain, cool blue color cast, and the visible swimwear style are consistent with mid-1960s home movie practice; no anachronistic elements appear in any frame.

Home-movie behavior

The subject's spontaneous, camera-aware grin after surfacing is an unscripted moment of shared summer joy that no staged production could replicate.

What appears in frame

Blue pool water, churning white splash, a young shirtless man surfacing, a second shirtless figure standing in background water, a motion-blurred pool-edge figure in dark striped swimwear, and a near-blank closing frame.

Film character

Heavy 8mm grain, a cool blue color shift, significant motion blur on the dive frame, and a near-blank reel-end frame are all characteristic archival textures of scanned 8mm home movie stock from this era.

Edit role

Works best as a short memory beat or insert cut in documentary segments on postwar American domestic life, summer recreation, or mid-century youth culture.

Historical context

Pool and outdoor swimming was a widespread summer leisure activity for American families in the early 1960s; this footage reflects that everyday recreational culture without asserting specific social claims.

Research note

An identifiable adult face is clearly visible in frame 1; likeness rights should be evaluated before editorial or commercial use. No logos, brands, or private property markers are visible.
