Camden New Jersey USA-1964: A Lady In Swim Cap And Swimsuit Belly Flops Into Her Pool

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits a 1960s domestic-life or summer recreation sequence for documentary, nostalgia, or commercial productions seeking authentic mid-century backyard pool footage.

Period detail

Tiered yellow knitted swimsuit and rubber swim cap reflect early-to-mid 1960s beachwear fashion; the large striped patio umbrella is consistent with period suburban leisure aesthetics.

Home-movie behavior

The subject performs a belly flop apparently for the camera, suggesting a family member is directing, capturing an uninhibited backyard moment typical of home-movie spontaneity.

What appears in frame

Yellow rubber swim cap, tiered yellow knitted swimsuit, yellow-and-white striped patio umbrella, dark conifer trees, blue pool water, large upward entry splash, and subject surfacing.

Film character

8mm color stock renders the yellow swimwear with vivid saturation shift; dark blue pool water and foliage carry visible grain and a cool cast typical of mid-1960s amateur film.

Edit role

Works as a humor beat or summer montage insert in a mid-century domestic sequence; the isolated splash frame cuts cleanly as a standalone action cutaway.

Historical context

Backyard pools were a mid-century suburban aspiration; the matching knitted swimsuit and rubber swim cap ensemble reflects women's recreational swimwear conventions of the early 1960s.

Research note

The subject's face is clearly visible in two frames; likeness rights assessment is required before editorial use, as copyright and personality rights are separate obligations under applicable law.
