Windy Sunset With Palm Trees Blowing In Wind — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a dramatic sunset or sunrise over a coastal landscape. The sky glows with vibrant orange and yellow hues near the horizon, transitioning into deep blue above, with scattered clouds catching the light. Silhouetted palm trees and a hillside frame the right side of the view, while a distant antenna stands against the glowing sky. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain and slight camera shake, evoking a nostalgic, retro feel. This authentic slice of 1960s Americana is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic projects.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s San Diego 8mm footage for productions needing a brief coastal sunset or sunrise atmosphere, weather insert, or California home-movie transition.
Period detail: The palm silhouettes, distant antenna, and soft 8mm color may show a residential or coastal San Diego outlook in the early 1960s, without identifiable landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has the value of an unstaged home-movie view, with the camera held on a dramatic sky and wind-moved palms rather than on posed subjects.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a glowing horizon, layered clouds, dark palm fronds, a hillside silhouette, a distant antenna, and deep blue evening or dawn sky.
Film character: The footage carries 8mm grain, soft focus, dense shadow, slight handheld instability, and warm color bleed around the low sun as part of its archival texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short scenic cutaway, passage-of-time insert, reflective memory beat, or transition into a 1960s Southern California sequence.
Historical context: The view suggests a mid-century California domestic travel or neighborhood perspective, recording coastal light and weather rather than a public event.
Research note: No people, logos, or readable property identifiers are visible, but copyright status and any location-based property concerns should still be reviewed.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1962 San Diego 8mm sunset, Southern California palm trees in wind, vintage coastal dusk, and home movie sunrise sky.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then with 1962 San Diego material, and then with broader California coast, palm tree, wind, or sunset footage.
