Summit County Colorado USA-1962: A Beautiful Land With Mountain Lake And Meadows

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits editorial requests for early 1960s Rocky Mountain landscape footage in nature documentaries, American West retrospectives, or commercial spots needing authentic archival alpine scenery.

Period detail

Color palette, grain structure, and vignetting are consistent with 8mm amateur stock from the early 1960s; no vehicles, structures, or period artifacts appear on screen to independently confirm the date.

Home-movie behavior

A slow deliberate pan across lake, stream, and open meadow suggests a private filmmaker pausing to record the alpine scenery as a vacation memory rather than staging a composed shot.

What appears in frame

Snow-capped mountain range, alpine lake, open green meadow, evergreen tree line on lower slopes, partly cloudy sky, low riparian shrubs, and pronounced dark vignette borders throughout.

Film character

Visible grain, softened color saturation with a slight warm drift, and pronounced vignetting at frame edges are hallmarks of aged 8mm stock that lend the image an authentic mid-century texture.

Edit role

Works as an establishing shot or transitional cutaway in documentary passages on the American West, Colorado landscape history, or mid-century outdoor recreation.

Historical context

Summit County, Colorado in 1962 predates the region's major ski-resort development; the footage may show the landscape before significant recreational infrastructure changed it.

Research note

No identifiable people, logos, or structures appear in these frames; copyright rests with the original filmmaker or their estate and has not been assessed — standard editorial licensing terms apply.
