Los Angeles California USA-1962: Matador Faces Charging Bull in Vintage Bullfight

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suitable for 1960s cultural-history or travelogue documentary sequences requiring authentic amateur-shot bullfighting footage from mid-century.

Period detail

The matador's embroidered traje de luces, open sand arena, and faded 8mm color palette are consistent with early 1960s; no independent date marker is visible in-frame.

Home-movie behavior

Shot from an elevated spectator position, the framing and movement suggest a tourist or event-goer recording the scene informally rather than a professional production.

What appears in frame

Sand arena floor, dark bull with white bandilleras, matador in light embroidered costume, pink and red capes, red barrera wall, strong midday shadows, and a wide overhead spectator vantage.

Film character

Characteristic 8mm grain, warm color shift, and slight optical instability give the footage the authentic home-movie texture of early 1960s amateur film.

Edit role

Functions as a cultural cutaway or documentary insert within sequences on mid-century spectator sport, Latin American traditions, or travelogue narratives.

Historical context

Bullfighting was a prominent spectator attraction in northern Mexico and parts of the American Southwest in this era; the stated Los Angeles location should be independently verified.

Research note

The matador's face is identifiable in multiple frames; likeness review is advisable for commercial use, and copyright status of the original 8mm footage should be confirmed by the licensing party.
