Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Los Angeles zoo footage for documentary or educational edits needing visitor-shot sea lion pool behavior from 8mm home movies.
Period detail: The pool enclosure, turquoise water, and simple exhibit edges may show mid-century zoo display design, with the 1962 date supported by supplied metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes from a visitor viewpoint as two sea lions move through the pool, preserving an informal zoo outing rather than a staged wildlife sequence.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two dark sea lions, clear blue-green pool water, white concrete pool edges, rippling sunlight, exhibit walls, and 8mm frame borders.
Film character: The scan carries 8mm texture with soft focus, visible grain, slight exposure shifts, and dark frame edges that give the brief scene a physical-film character.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short animal cutaway, zoo visit insert, transition beat, or nostalgic memory detail within a broader Los Angeles or wildlife sequence.
Historical context: The footage offers a small social view of zoo spectatorship through the animals and enclosure, without showing visitors, staff, signage, or identifiable institutions.
Research note: No people, logos, or brands are visible, but users should separately review copyright status and any zoo or location permissions for intended use.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1962 Los Angeles zoo sea lions, 8mm home movie animal pool, vintage sea lion enclosure, and 1960s wildlife exhibit footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other 1962 Los Angeles zoo material, then broader vintage zoo, animal pool, or sea lion footage.
