Well Trained Seals Doing Various Tricks During Marine Show — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a marine animal show at Marineland in Los Angeles, California. A trainer in a white uniform stands poolside as a well-trained seal performs tricks in the water, including balancing on a yellow float. The scene features the iconic Marineland logo on a red wall, with other performers and equipment visible on the wet stage. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 color grading with saturated blues and purples, grainy texture, and a nostalgic, candid feel from a 1960s family outing.

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s editorial or documentary requests needing visitor-shot footage of a Southern California marine animal show on 8mm film.
Period detail: The red show wall, Marineland life-ring logo, pool stage and white trainer uniform support the early-1960s marine park setting described in the clip metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The distant, elevated viewpoint feels like a visitor filming from the stands during a family outing rather than a staged production camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a pool, wet performance deck, seal or sea lion, yellow float, white-uniformed trainer, stage equipment, red wall and Marineland logo.
Film character: The scan shows dense 8mm color with blue-purple cast, soft focus, visible grain, gate borders and handheld framing typical of amateur home-movie footage.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, nostalgic cutaway or memory beat for mid-century leisure, animal shows or Los Angeles-area tourism.
Historical context: The footage reflects public marine-park entertainment and tourist spectatorship in the 1960s, while the clip itself only documents the visible show moment.
