View Of Brown Building And Trees On A Bright Sunny Day — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a sun-drenched view of a brown wooden building with vertical siding and a brick chimney in the Catskill region of New York. A small evergreen tree stands in the grassy yard, casting a sharp shadow under the bright midday sun. The camera pans slowly across the structure, revealing a window with a green frame and a second window further along the facade. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 film grain, warm color saturation, and natural outdoor lighting, evoking a nostalgic mid-century American suburban or rural scene. The final frame shifts to a dense treeline, suggesting a wooded landscape. This archival clip is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic projects exploring 1960s Americana.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s Catskill-region establishing footage, rural architecture cutaways, and documentary edits needing a quiet exterior home-movie view.
Period detail: The brown vertical siding, brick chimney, green-trimmed windows, and bright color 8mm look may show a mid-century rural or resort-area building.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes the building and surrounding trees from a casual outdoor viewpoint, giving the clip the value of an unstaged home-movie record.
What appears in frame: Visible details include a brown wood facade, brick chimney, green-framed windows, a small evergreen, lawn, hard sunlight, and a dense treeline.
Film character: The footage has warm color, soft focus, visible grain, slight gate edges, and handheld framing typical of scanned 8mm home-movie material.
Edit role: An editor could use it as an exterior insert, location transition, rural memory beat, or quiet cutaway before or after family or travel scenes.
Historical context: The clip documents an everyday built landscape in the Catskill area without identifying a specific property, business, or public landmark.
Research note: No visible logos appear, but metadata flags people visible, so likeness review should be kept separate from copyright and location clearance.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1962 8mm Catskill New York building exterior, mid-century rural house, sunny yard, trees, and home-movie cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other Catskill 1962 exteriors, then broader 1960s rural New York buildings and wooded landscapes.
