Boy at Family Camping Trip with Teepee Tent — Clip Details

A young boy in a red shirt and blue shorts stands near a white teepee-style tent in a sun-drenched forest clearing. The 8mm film captures a nostalgic summer vacation scene from 1962 in the Catskills, with dappled sunlight filtering through pine trees and casting shadows on the tent. The footage shows a quiet moment of family camping, with the boy holding a small object, possibly a toy or snack. The vintage Super 8 aesthetic features natural colors, slight grain, and a handheld camera feel, evoking classic Americana nostalgia.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie camping footage suited to documentary or educational sequences about family vacations and outdoor recreation in upstate New York.
Period detail: The white teepee-style tent, simple summer clothing, and handheld color 8mm look support the supplied 1962 Catskill vacation context.
Home-movie behavior: The camera lingers casually on the campsite as a person briefly appears at the edge, giving the scene an unstaged family-trip perspective.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white teepee-style tent, pine trees, a grassy clearing, blue sky, dappled shadows, dark film borders, and a partial person at frame edge.
Film character: The clip has saturated color, soft focus, visible grain, gate edges, and slight handheld movement typical of scanned 8mm home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short cutaway, memory beat, or transition for camping, vacation, or childhood-outdoors sequences.
Historical context: The footage shows a modest family campsite in a wooded clearing, reflecting leisure travel and outdoor recreation without identifying a specific campground.
Research note: People are visible at the edge, so likeness review may be needed; copyright, location, and property permissions should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Useful search phrases include 1960s Catskill camping home movie, 8mm teepee tent vacation, family campsite forest clearing, and vintage New York outdoors.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other 1962 Catskill vacation clips, then broader 1960s family camping and outdoor leisure footage.
