Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s documentary or educational edits needing home-movie footage of lakeside swimming and summer recreation in Catskill, New York.
Period detail: The swimsuits, white bathing caps, handheld 8mm texture, and open lakeside beach setting support an early-1960s leisure scene without visible brands or landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged home-movie value as swimmers wade, splash, and move casually through shallow lake water near a sandy public beach.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman in a patterned one-piece swimsuit, white swim caps, shallow lake water, splashing swimmers, sandy shore, trees, and distant beachgoers.
Film character: The footage shows dense 8mm grain, soft focus, saturated blue-purple color shift, uneven exposure, and handheld framing typical of scanned family film.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a summer-memory insert, recreational cutaway, transition into a lake sequence, or brief period detail in a family archive montage.
Historical context: The frames show mid-century leisure at a lakeside beach, with adults swimming and wading in a shared outdoor recreation area.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so copyright review should be separated from likeness and privacy considerations; no logos or private property are apparent.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1962 Catskill lake swimming, 8mm home movie beach, 1960s bathing suits, women in swim caps, and family vacation lake footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1962 Catskill lake scenes, then broader 1960s summer swimming and beach recreation footage.
