Illinois USA-1962: White Dog Plays in Grass Field with Red Flowers

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fits requests for 1960s American domestic life, suburban garden scenes, or pet footage for nostalgia-driven documentaries and editorial montages.

Period detail

Warm 8mm color palette and home-garden framing are consistent with early-1960s amateur filmmaking; residential architecture visible in the background may suggest a mid-century American suburban setting.

Home-movie behavior

The camera lingers unhurried on garden close-ups, then opens to watch a dog roam freely — the unscripted, observational rhythm typical of backyard home-movie shooting.

What appears in frame

Large yellow bloom in extreme close-up, dense green garden foliage, white dog mid-stride in open field, tall red flowers, white residential structure in background, large deciduous trees, partly cloudy blue sky.

Film character

Characteristic 8mm grain, slight softness in macro focus, and a warm color shift give the footage an authentic period texture that reads as genuinely archival rather than stylized.

Edit role

Works as a cutaway or memory-beat insert in rural Americana or domestic-life sequences; the flower close-ups can anchor a slow dissolve, and the wide field shot suits a chapter-break or interstitial.

Historical context

Backyard garden footage of this kind reflects postwar suburban domestic culture in the US Midwest; cultivated garden flowers filmed in close-up were a common amateur subject in the early 1960s.

Research note

No identifiable persons appear in the frames; the residential structure visible in the background may constitute private property — confirm ownership context before commercial use and verify copyright chain-of-title.
