Illinois USA-1962: Three Women Swinging On A Swing While Another Woman Talks To

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Serves 1960s American domestic and social history requests, ideal for documentary segments on Midwestern family life, nostalgia reels, or era-establishing inserts.

Period detail

Women's sleeveless floral and printed cotton dresses, a white wood lattice trellis, and a late-1950s/early-1960s American car visible in the final frame all support a mid-century summer backyard gathering.

Home-movie behavior

The wide, genuine laughter and relaxed poses directed at the camera suggest a family member behind the lens capturing an unscripted summer afternoon.

What appears in frame

Three adult women on an outdoor porch swing, brick house with windows, white lattice trellis, a man in a striped shirt in background, a vintage American car, red tubular folding lawn chair, and summer garden foliage.

Film character

The 8mm frames show warm color saturation typical of Kodachrome-era stock, with fine grain, slight edge darkening, and soft natural-light exposure from a bright summer afternoon.

Edit role

Works as a memory beat or cutaway in documentary sequences about mid-century American domestic life, or as an establishing insert in family-history and nostalgia productions.

Historical context

The porch swing gathering, brick suburban house, and casual summer dress codes reflect typical Midwestern middle-class leisure culture of the early 1960s.

Research note

Multiple adult faces are clearly identifiable; standard editorial and documentary rights apply to archival footage, but producers should assess likeness release requirements for their specific use case.
