Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Suits documentaries or educational productions needing candid 8mm footage of small-scale American commerce and everyday social exchange in the early 1960s.
Period detail: White polo shirt with blue knit trim and the customer's plaid shirt are consistent with early-1960s casual menswear; the 'Sokolowski's Berks' sign suggests a small regional vendor.
Home-movie behavior: The camera captures an unhurried, unposed transactional moment between vendor and customer — the kind of candid exchange a home-movie maker would film at a local fair or community event.
What appears in frame: A wooden booth counter, a vendor in a white polo with blue trim, a customer in a striped shirt, a painted 'Sokolowski's Berks' business sign, items passed between hands, and a final outdoor shot of a large deciduous tree beside a utility pole.
Film character: 8mm color stock shows warm saturation, moderate grain, and soft focus in low light, giving the dim booth frames an intimate period quality characteristic of handheld home-movie work.
Edit role: Best used as a brief cutaway or memory beat in a documentary about American small-town commerce, county fairs, or everyday Midwest life in the early 1960s.
Historical context: Vendor booths at fairs and community markets were common gathering points in early-1960s Midwestern America; the signage and period clothing reflect that era's regional retail culture.
Research note: Identifiable adult faces are visible; likeness rights for individuals cannot be confirmed. The 'Sokolowski's Berks' sign is a visible business name and warrants separate rights assessment.
Research search match: Researchers may search for 1960s small-town commerce, Midwest fair booth vendor, vintage retail transaction, or 8mm home movie Illinois 1960s everyday life.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from the same Illinois 1962 reel; then with American fair or outdoor-market footage from the early 1960s; then with period Midwest street-life or commerce clips.
