Illinois USA-1962: Man Reaches Into Tree In Suburban Backyard

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary or educational productions needing candid early-1960s Midwest suburban domestic life footage as a cutaway or period atmosphere shot.

Period detail

Men's clothing — light short-sleeved shirt and pleated dark trousers — and the suburban yard with clothesline-style metal pole suggest early 1960s American residential life.

Home-movie behavior

Both figures appear unaware of or unconcerned by the camera, lending the moment the unposed, incidental quality characteristic of family 8mm recording.

What appears in frame

Man in light shirt and dark trousers reaching toward an overhead yard structure, second figure in darker clothing nearby, white ball on green lawn, gravel path, leafy trees, modest outbuilding in background.

Film character

Warm, slightly saturated 8mm color palette with gentle grain and soft edge rendering give the footage an intimate, time-worn texture consistent with period amateur film stock.

Edit role

Functions as a cutaway or insert within a 1960s suburban Americana sequence, or as a quiet memory beat in a mid-century domestic life narrative.

Historical context

The well-maintained suburban backyard with metal clothesline post and modest outbuilding reflects post-war Midwest residential patterns typical of the early 1960s.

Research note

Two adults are visible, primarily from behind; faces are not clearly legible but likeness review is advised; residential property may require location release depending on intended use.
