Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fills 1960s Midwest leisure and lakeside property briefs; suits documentaries on mid-century American summer recreation or nature b-roll cutaways.

Period detail

The white colonnaded dock pavilion, summer foliage, and faded 8mm color palette are consistent with early-1960s Midwest lakeside leisure; no dateable signage is visible.

Home-movie behavior

Shot from water level across the lake, the panning reveal of the dock structure suggests a visitor or family member documenting a private lakefront property.

What appears in frame

Calm lake surface with gentle ripples, white colonnaded pergola pavilion on a concrete dock, dense deciduous summer foliage, clear sky, and a small red accent object near the structure.

Film character

Characteristic 8mm grain and slightly faded warm-cool color shift give the footage a soft, hazy quality consistent with amateur 1960s home-movie stock.

Edit role

Works as a transitional wide establishing shot or reflective memory cutaway in documentary segments on mid-century American lakeside life or leisure culture.

Historical context

Covered dock pavilions of this style were a common feature of private lakefront estates in the Midwest during the postwar era, reflecting mid-century leisure investment.

Research note

No identifiable people, faces, or brand marks are visible; the dock structure may constitute private property — confirm ownership provenance before commercial use.
