Sea Lion Show At Artificial Pool With Crowd — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a lively marine animal show at an artificial pool in Los Angeles, California. A trainer in a white uniform works with a sea lion on a stage beside the water, while a large crowd watches from tiered bleachers. The footage shows the pool's turquoise water, a shipwreck-style prop, and flags on poles, all under a bright sky. The grainy, color-bleached quality of the Super 8 film evokes mid-century Americana and nostalgic entertainment.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful 1960s Los Angeles leisure footage for productions needing mid-century marine park entertainment, audience spectacle, or family attraction context.
Period detail: The white-uniform trainer, tiered bleachers, painted pool edge, flags, and shipwreck-style stage prop may show early-1960s public attraction design.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot perspective from the stands, valuing the crowd scale, handheld framing, and brief attention to the trained sea lion act.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a turquoise artificial pool, sea lion, trainer in white, bleacher crowd, shipwreck-style prop, flags, railings, and stage blocks.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, saturated blue-green water, visible grain, slight gate edges, and exposure shifts consistent with handheld home-movie footage.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, nostalgic cutaway, or memory beat for mid-century tourism, animal shows, or Los Angeles leisure culture.
Historical context: The footage reflects a public marine animal performance setting with spectators watching from packed bleachers, without confirming a specific venue beyond the supplied Los Angeles metadata.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed; no clear logos are visible, and copyright, venue, and property permissions should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1962 Los Angeles 8mm sea lion show, vintage marine animal performance, mid-century pool attraction, and home movie crowd bleachers.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1962 Los Angeles footage, then broader vintage amusement park or marine animal show material.
