Los Angeles California USA-1962: Sea Lion Show At Marineland Of The Pacific

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

1960s 8mm visitor footage useful for editorial requests about mid-century Southern California attractions, marine animal shows, and family leisure travel.

Period detail

The white handler uniforms, simple poolside stage, painted Marineland signage, and faded color stock support the stated early-1960s amusement-park setting.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has a visitor-shot viewpoint from across the pool, holding on the trained animals and handlers rather than a staged production angle.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a blue show pool, poolside platforms, trained sea lions, white-uniformed handlers, a red stage wall, Marineland signage, and audience-side railings.

Film character

The scan shows 8mm grain, soft focus, gate edges, slight color fading, and handheld framing that preserve the physical home-movie texture.

Edit role

An editor could use this as a brief insert, transition, or memory beat for mid-century tourism, animal attractions, or Southern California leisure sequences.

Historical context

The footage documents public entertainment centered on trained marine mammals, seen from the perspective of a 1962 visitor rather than an official promotional film.

Research note

People and Marineland branding are visible, so copyright, trademark, likeness, and venue-identification questions should be reviewed separately before use.
