Olympic Pool with Striped Building at Mexico City — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage footage captures a sun-drenched view of an Olympic-sized swimming pool in Mexico City. Empty concrete bleachers line the pool, with a multi-story building featuring yellow and blue horizontal stripes in the background. Lush green trees dot the landscape, and a few cars pass on the adjacent road. The camera pans slowly, revealing the full scope of the aquatic facility under a bright sky, evoking a sense of mid-century urban planning and public recreation. The film’s grain and color saturation are characteristic of home movie footage from the era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Mexico City 8mm footage suited to documentary or educational requests for public recreation, urban facilities, and mid-century outdoor swimming venues.
Period detail: The striped multi-story building, broad roadway, concrete bleachers, and open pool complex may show early-1960s civic or recreational architecture in Mexico City.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot perspective, slowly observing the pool, bleachers, road, trees, and surrounding buildings rather than staging action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a turquoise swimming pool, empty concrete bleachers, a wide road, trees, parked or passing cars, and striped mid-century buildings.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, slight color shift, bright sun exposure, and handheld framing that preserve a home-movie archive texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as an establishing insert, location cutaway, transition, or quiet memory beat for public leisure and urban planning sequences.
Historical context: The footage documents an outdoor swimming facility within a built-up Mexico City setting, with road traffic and institutional-looking buildings around the pool.
Research note: People are flagged as visible, so likeness review may be needed even if faces are not clear; copyright, location, and property rights should be checked separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1962 Mexico City 8mm swimming pool, empty bleachers, outdoor aquatic facility, mid-century public recreation, and urban home movie.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then Mexico City 1962 material, then other 1960s pool, stadium, civic architecture, or recreation footage.
