Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This 1960s 8mm home-movie clip helps illustrate a family surprise-party setup and outdoor social gathering for documentary, museum, or period domestic-life edits.
Period detail: The blue title card dated June 8, 1962 and the visible hairstyles, table setting, and casual dress may show early-1960s family celebration details.
Home-movie behavior: The footage preserves an unstaged home-movie view of guests seated close together outdoors, with the camera shifting from a homemade title card to the party table.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a blue party title card, white lettering, projector-frame edges, film dust, a grassy yard, seated guests, cups, and a table setting.
Film character: The clip has dense 8mm grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, gate edges, dust marks, and saturated blue-green color that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, transition, or memory beat linking a dated family title card to an outdoor 1960s celebration.
Historical context: The scene reflects private social life and backyard-style entertaining, but the frames do not independently identify the guests beyond the title card name Janice.
Research note: Visible faces require likeness review, and the title card names a private individual; copyright, privacy, and any location or family permissions should be checked separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1960s 8mm surprise party, Janice birthday or party title card, Hagerstown Maryland home movie, and outdoor family gathering.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other Hagerstown or 1963 home movies, then broader 1960s family party and food-and-drink scenes.
