Hagerstown Maryland Usaa-1963: Peacock Walking Inside Zoo Enclosure

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Serves documentary or educational productions needing 1960s American zoo footage on 8mm home-movie film, particularly mid-century wildlife or leisure sequences.

Period detail

The fine dark mesh enclosure netting and pale concrete or gravel ground are consistent with mid-century U.S. zoo infrastructure typical of the early 1960s.

Home-movie behavior

A zoo visitor filmed the peacock through enclosure netting, capturing an unposed, spontaneous glimpse rather than a composed wildlife shot.

What appears in frame

Dark mesh enclosure netting, iridescent green and blue-green peacock plumage, pale light-colored ground surface, layered net texture, vertical support structure, film grain overlay.

Film character

Aged 8mm emulsion produces visible grain, a cool color cast, and soft focus through the double-layered net, giving the footage an impressionistic archival texture.

Edit role

Functions as an atmospheric cutaway or memory-beat insert within a 1960s American leisure or zoo sequence, adding mid-century texture to wildlife or nostalgia edits.

Historical context

Zoo visits were a common middle-class leisure activity in 1960s America; this candid shot through enclosure netting reflects typical visitor access and camera positions of the era.

Research note

No identifiable people, logos, or brand marks are visible; the zoo facility may carry property rights and should be confirmed by production counsel before commercial use.
