Hagerstown Maryland Usaa-1963: White Chicken Wading In Birdbath With Blue Globe

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary or editorial requests for 1960s American domestic life, backyard animals, or mid-century suburban home footage.

Period detail

The blue gazing-globe garden ornament and wire mesh fence are consistent with mid-century American backyard aesthetics of the early 1960s.

Home-movie behavior

Filmed through a mesh screen or fence, this reflects an unposed, informal moment of a backyard bird captured by a domestic home-movie enthusiast.

What appears in frame

White chicken wading in a shallow circular birdbath, large blue spherical gazing globe, dark wire mesh screen overlay, green leafy shrubs, circular basin rim, film vignette at edges.

Film character

Warm-toned 8mm grain with slight color oversaturation on the blue globe and characteristic vignetting at frame edges typical of period home-movie film stocks.

Edit role

Functions as a cutaway or memory-beat insert in a domestic Americana sequence, or as a textural transition within a 1960s backyard-life montage.

Historical context

Blue gazing-globe ornaments were a widespread American lawn decoration in the mid-20th century; the wire mesh framing suggests the bird was kept in a backyard enclosure.

Research note

No people or faces visible; property appears to be a private residential backyard — independent clearance verification is advised for commercial use.
