Tampa Florida USA-1960: Two Women Walking By Poolside Near Ocean

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Serves 1960s American resort and leisure history projects; useful as a social-history cutaway or vacation-era insert in documentary or educational productions.

Period detail

Women's mid-calf dresses, small hats, and low-heeled shoes appear consistent with early 1960s resort wear; the concrete pool deck and striped poolside structure suggest a mid-century Florida hotel.

Home-movie behavior

The women walk directly toward the camera in a relaxed, unhurried way, suggesting a companion filmed a candid vacation moment rather than a staged scene.

What appears in frame

Two older women in pale dresses and hats, concrete pool deck with brick-red edging, metal pool handrail, blue ocean horizon, lounge chairs, and reclining guests in the background.

Film character

Warm, slightly faded 8mm color with visible grain and mild overexposure in the sky; the purple-blue cast of the ocean is characteristic of period color-reversal stock.

Edit role

Works as a resort-life cutaway or transition in mid-century social history documentaries; the direct-to-camera walk also suits a nostalgic memory beat.

Historical context

Florida oceanfront resorts were popular destinations for older American vacationers in the early 1960s; poolside dress norms of the era often required full cover-ups away from the water.

Research note

Faces of both women and background guests are clearly identifiable; no model releases are likely for this home-movie material; editorial use requires standard archival clearance assessment.
